Terms and Conditions

Interconnect is a multidisciplinary creative space supporting independent artists, rehearsals, performances, workshops, residencies, and community-led programming. These Terms & Conditions exist to ensure the space is used safely, respectfully, and sustainably for everyone.

These Terms & Conditions form the agreement between Interconnect Studios and the Hirer in relation to any booking, rehearsal, performance, workshop, residency, event, or venue hire.By confirming a booking or paying an invoice issued by Interconnect, the Hirer acknowledges and agrees to these Terms & Conditions.

Bookings, Payments & Cancellations

1.1  A booking is only confirmed once payment has been received.
1.2  Interconnect may place provisional holds on requested dates and reserves the right to release unconfirmed bookings.
1.3  Full payment must be made within the timeframe outlined on the invoice.
1.4  Interconnect reserves the right to refuse access to the venue where payment has not been received.
1.5  Deposits are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed in writing.
1.6  Cancellation requests must be made in writing.
1.7  Cancellation fees may apply:

  • Less than 12 hours before booking: up to 100% of booking fee

  • Longer duration bookings up to 100% of booking 1 week in advance.

1.8  Interconnect reserves the right to cancel bookings due to emergencies, venue damage, safety concerns, unforeseen circumstances, or events outside of its control.
1.9  Where Interconnect cancels a booking, payments made toward the affected booking will be refunded or credited toward a future booking.
1.10        Additional charges may apply for:

  • Extended hire time

  • Cleaning

  • Damage

1.11        Hirers exceeding their booked hire period may incur additional charges.
1.12        If the Hirer exceeds their booked hire period, an additional fee of $50 per half hour (or part thereof) will apply. This fee will be invoiced following the event and must be paid within 7 days of the invoice date.

2     Venue Access & Use
2.1  Interconnect grants the Hirer a non-exclusive licence to occupy and use the venue during the agreed hire period only.
2.2  The booking does not grant tenancy or exclusive possession of the venue.
2.3  Hirers must only access approved areas associated with their booking.
2.4  The venue must be left in the same condition it was found, excluding reasonable wear and tear.
2.5  Hirers are responsible for basic cleaning, rubbish removal, and returning all furniture, props, and equipment to their original locations
2.6  Any excessive cleaning required after the booking may incur additional cleaning fees.
2.7  No materials, substances, tape, paint, glitter, liquids, smoke effects, or equipment may be used in a way that damages venue surfaces.
2.8  Damage to the venue, including flooring, walls, equipment, furniture, or technical infrastructure, will result in repair or replacement charges.
2.8.1      Tarkett damage is $2000 per roll (including, holes, rips or bad markings)
2.9  Any equipment, props, furniture, artwork, sets, or personal items brought into the venue remain the responsibility of the Hirer.
2.10        Items left behind after the hire period may be disposed of or removed by Interconnect.
2.11        Interconnect reserves the right to stop any activity deemed unsafe, disruptive, inappropriate, or in breach of these Terms.

3     Venue Care, Noise & Conduct

3.1  Interconnect is a shared creative environment and all Hirers are expected to treat the venue, staff, artists, neighbours, and community respectfully.
3.2  Hirers must respect neighbouring businesses and residents at all times.
3.3  Noise levels must remain reasonable, particularly during evening hours.
3.4  Guests and patrons must remain within venue boundaries and avoid causing disruption outside the premises.
3.5  Aggressive, unsafe, discriminatory, threatening, or illegal behaviour will result in immediate termination of the booking.
3.6  Smoking, illegal substances, or unsafe activities are not permitted within the venue.

 4  Safety & Liability
4.1  Hirers are responsible for the safety and conduct of all guests, performers, crew, contractors, and attendees associated with their booking.
4.2  Depending on the nature of the booking, Hirers may be required to provide proof of Public Liability Insurance prior to accessing the venue.
4.3  Interconnect’s insurance covers the venue and its operations only and does not extend to individual Hirers, guests, equipment, artwork, sets, costumes, or personal property.
4.4  Interconnect is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to any items brought into the venue.
4.5  Hirers are responsible for any loss or damage caused during their hire period by themselves, collaborators, guests, contractors, or audiences.
4.6  Interconnect is not liable for interruptions, cancellations, delays, or changes caused by circumstances outside of its reasonable control, including power outages, emergencies, severe weather, building issues, government restrictions, or other unforeseen events.

5     Termination of Hire

5.1  Interconnect reserves the right to immediately terminate a booking where the Hirer:

  • Breaches these Terms & Conditions

  • Causes damage to the venue

  • Creates unsafe conditions

  • Fails to follow venue directions

  • Causes unreasonable disruption

  • Fails to make required payments

5.2 Termination of a booking does not remove responsibility for outstanding payments or damages.

6     Documentation & General

6.1  Interconnect may photograph or document activity within the venue for archival, promotional, and marketing purposes unless otherwise agreed in writing.
6.2  Interconnect reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time.
